Our cats set the pace

Our cats may be playful, curious, sleepy, or quietly tucked away. We can't guarantee interaction, but we can promise their comfort always comes first.

House rules for the Cat Lounge

  • Please use inside voices
  • Don't chase, pick up, or disturb resting cats
  • Please don't feed the cats
  • Use café toys only
  • No flash photography

Let the cats come to you

Cats choose when and who they interact with. If a cat walks away or hides, please leave them in peace.

Resting zones

Please don't reach into beds, hideaways, shelves, or behind furniture. Those are the cats' quiet zones.

Health

If anyone has a fever, stomach bug, or a strong cough, please reschedule. Please use our cat-safe hand sanitiser on arrival and let your hands dry completely before entering the Cat Lounge.

Visiting with children

Children aged 6 and up are warmly welcome, and our cats often enjoy the company of gentle young visitors. We love seeing kids meet the cats — it's one of the best parts of what we do.

Parents and guardians are asked to stay alongside their children throughout the entire visit. Please help them speak softly, move calmly, and let the cats approach on their own terms rather than chasing or reaching out.

We know children can get excited, and that's lovely — but if a cat becomes stressed, or we're unable to settle a more lively moment, our staff may need to end the visit early to protect the cats. We'd really rather avoid that, so thank you in advance for helping us create a peaceful experience for everyone.

Visiting safely — a bit of common sense

Cats are animals, and while ours are mostly calm and well-socialised, they're still cats. Occasional scratches, the odd nip, or a snagged sleeve can happen — especially during play. We keep a first aid kit on-site and our staff are used to handling minor bumps.

A few common-sense things worth knowing before you visit:

  • Dress practically. We love seeing people dressed up, but don't wear anything you'd be devastated to see a claw mark on. Cats climb, play, and occasionally catch a sleeve — wear clothes you don't mind getting paw-printed or snagged.
  • Look after your bags and coats. Keep handbags, jackets, and loose items zipped up and off the floor. Curious cats will investigate, and buckles, straps and zips are popular toys. We're a small non-profit and can't replace damaged items, so a little care goes a long way.
  • Tell us about health conditions. If you have cat allergies, are immunocompromised, on blood thinners, or recovering from recent surgery, please let us know when you arrive. We can help you enjoy your visit safely.
  • Don't visit if you're unwell. Fever, stomach bugs, or a strong cough — please reschedule. It keeps you, other guests, and the cats safe.

We're not trying to scare you — the vast majority of visits pass without a single scratch. But our cats share a home with us, and they're happiest when guests understand they're real animals with real personalities. Come with a little awareness and you'll have a wonderful time.

Keeping it calm

If a child becomes overwhelmed or the cats need a break, we may pause or end the session early so everyone stays safe and comfortable.

Pets

Please leave your own pets at home. This helps keep the Cat Lounge calm and safe for our cats.
